What do you do?

As my close friends in the comic art collecting world know I tend to make impulse commissions / OA decisions. "cough cough" Wizard world Chicago 2014

This leads me to my questions. Is better to only buy commissions /OA from established artists, and should you just cut your losses on piece you don't like and sell it?

Agreed. Buy what speaks to you and that you're happy with. Now tastes do change and I've had pieces that I liked at the time, but now, I don't care for as much and have moved them. As for the impulse . . . walk away, even if it's just for 10-15 minutes, just to gain some clarity.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

buy what you like is the only way to go IMO

If you do buy something on impulse that you don't end up wanting I would say sell it and move on even if you take a hit on value. I need to take this advice myself on a few pieces.

Never sell art you don't like as it is insulting to the artist. Burn it instead.
