IMO this spin-off has the most chance to flop. While a badass character, and clearly has a cool design for the movie, people might not buy into him. He's not flashy.

But mad props for Marvel to give him a solo movie.

Personally I think this has an excellent chance of being a very big hit. It likely won't pull in Cap2 or Thor $, but I would guess $200M - $250M domestic and $400M - $500M international.
It will appeal to a broad domestic and international audience. It probably won't rely nearly as much on EFX, so it will probably be more in the $75M - $100M budget vs. the $150M+ budgets for Cap or Thor. Wakanda will no doubt have an exotic high-tech/African-influenced design that will transport the audience to a place they've never been--always a plus. They might also take the action to other international locales a la a Bond movie (speaking of which BP will probably rely on some cool tech gadgetry that will be fun to see). Boseman is a very, very talented actor who will look the part and won't command a huge salary... yet (Evans got $200K for Cap 1, although he's now probably raking it in for Cap2 and Avengers). Marvel will probably have crossover and/or supporting parts from a couple of other heroes to help bring in the fans (similar to Black Widow in Cap2) or they may introduce a new hero or two. I'm sure they will give BP a fantastic supporting cast and pit him against a cool villain. The main thing is to get a great script and director. I don't think selecting a director by race should be a prerequisite, but after seeing The Equalizer I could see Antione Fuqua turning in a kickass movie. But personally my #1 director choice would be Jon Favreau. That costume design is hands down fantastic.

If nothing I'm glad that a black superhero is getting a solo movie.

It's as great, and much needed, as a female superhero getting a solo film.

Marvel is doing it right and I sure hope BP is done right. I also wish they could hint at Storm but she's off limits (boooo).

Seems to be a lot of posts on sites praising Marvel for the first black actor led super hero movie (eh Blade) and DC for being the first Female (eh Supergirl, Catwoman, Elektra). I appreciate that these are the first in the new era but it's been blown out of proportion. I would argue it was actually Blade that kickstarted the modern era of CBMs

Although it sucked the Catwoman at least broke the barrier of black female lead. Not a huge number of opportunities for that to happen again unless Fox announce a solo Storm.
