i've known quite a few people named Xavior and none of them pronounced their name zavior.

but the simple fact here is that he's the founder of the X-Men, would be a pretty stupid name if he kept the X in his name silent no?

and here's a stupid question from me, is Byrne pronounced Burn or Brine?

Burn did some of his best work with Zavier and the Uncanny Eks-Men.

On the subject of Founders (OK, maybe not at issue #1)

BTW I've always maintained that the 'A' on Cap's mask should really stand for "Avengers" and not "America."

It's their name, they can pronounce it any funny way they want.

However, the church and school of Saint Francis Xavier are pronounced "zavier". How do you say the name Xerxes?

And Professor X has said in the books that the X-Men were not named after him. From Marvel.com: "He dubbed his students the "X-Men," because each possessed an "extra" ability that normal humans lacked."

Xerxes is "Zer-sees"; that's how "experts" pronounce it, anyways.

Doesn't George Lucas pronounce Dooku as "dough-koo" for some annoying reason?

I'm reviving this old thread because I just watched a YouTube video by The Cosmic Wonder about Marvel characters rumored to debut in future films and he was pronouncing Ka-Zar as "Kuh-ZAR". I know I wasn't saying it wrong all these years so I looked it up to verify and it indeed rhymes with "Quasar".

In the same video he also was confusing Man-Thing with Swamp Thing so that should have been a clue.

Nine years later, my mind remains unchanged about how to pronounce Magneto and Xavier. Despite what the movies and cartoons say, "Mag-NEET-o" is as wrong to me as hanging toilet paper under the roll instead of over.
