Yes, my cousin who is an airline mechanic explained this to me and I still say everyone including Stan and Jack who created the character are wrong. Mag-NEE-toh as the name for a super villain just does not sound menacing enough. I'm considering writing Merriam-Webster to have the pronunciation of the word officially changed.

Really? Whenever I hear it pronounced like that, I can't help but think of the outdated slang term "neato".
From this moment on, I will refer to Magneto in conversation only as Erik or Magnus. Harumph.
