The Satanic Rites of Dracula (Hammer/1973) 6.5/10 - The 8th & final time Chis Lee would play the Count, this swansong Hammer film picks up just a year after the better 7th movie, Dracula AD1972. Van Helsing, once & thankfully again played by the amazing Peter Cushing (the grandson of the original), discovers that the pesky vampire has once again risen & this time seized control of a multi-national corporation as it's head. In this one, Drac has a coven of witches & henchmen to perform tasks only the British govt. w/ the help of recruited Van Helsing try & stop him. Not a great one, but not horrible. A little lacking on the Hammer' beauties, but the 70's violence is there as are his brides. Cushing gets Lee in a fun & never used before this, Vampire' killing way which I found interesting & fun. Bottom line - - It's Hammer, it's Lee & Cushing, it's Dracula. Always a watchable combo.

That's actually my favorite Hammer film.

War of the Planet of the Apes 7.5/10

This was a pretty perfect cap to the trilogy. Amazing and emotional performances by the actors and animators of the Apes. There is a very poignant and timely social commentary that arises as well once Ceasar is introduced to the General's plans.

My biggest issue is that "War" is a huge misnomer for the film. I won't get into it for fear of spoilers but the end conflict is a little unsatisfying if you are expecting what the marketing was selling you. Halfway through the movie I realized what type of film I was likely going to get, and it honestly was more to my personal tastes anyways.

I'm hoping for more drama than action. This might be one of the few films where I really don't want to see them fighting. If only they could all just get along lol

War of the Planet of the Apes 7/10 an enjoyable enough conclusion to a pretty solid trilogy. I think it is probably the weakest of the three movies but worth seeing.
