It looks like an Avengers version of what they did with the X-Men. Right down to being a reverse image and having characters in similar places and positions.
Several problems:
1. The X-Men one is a take on an original art from the early 90s so there’s history behind it. The only history with this Avengers version is that many of the characters here are part of the Assemble statue line and in similar poses to those statues.
2. The X-Men one uses their “main” villain, Magneto. Since these are comic depictions, Thanos in the comics is not the Avengers arch nemesis. I’d say he’s more like everybody’s villain. Even in the movies, yeah the major franchise is the Avengers and he’s the main villain, but he’s enemies with the entire MCU including its non-Avengers (Dr Strange, Black Panther, GotG, Ravagers, Nova Corp, etc). Comic Avengers if I had to choose a “main” villain I’d probably go with Ultron before Thanos.
3. The X-Men version is a very specific and exact roster with its own history and commemorates one of the most popular comics and top selling comic of all time. The Avengers version just depicts popular characters who were Avengers at random times. And of course they’re the movie characters although this uses their comic forms.
4. Why is Thanos snapping? There’s no context here besides “hey, this is Avengers art, Thanos is doing that thing he’s known for although he only did it once or twice.”
5. Also with Thanos, chronos1919 mentioned how goofy Thanos looks starring at the camera, it can be argued Magneto doesn’t have the same affect because the way his powers work he could very well be doing something with his magnetism and since his shield is up he very clearly knows the X-Men are behind him. Thanos on the other hand, has no reason to have his back towards the Avengers other than he’s just taking Magneto’s spot.
