The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

yeah I really dont even know why they have a distinctions. There is no definition on their website of what the distinctions mean... so why even label them differently? Just charge what you want, dont hide behind a made up category whos definition of the name is an incomplete sculpt.

Apparently if the Deadpool PF were made today, it will be labeled as a maquette. So this maquette label due to “complexity” is relatively new. Why Thor and X-23 are PFs,I have no idea. But I am glad that they are PFs instead of maquette.

good point those deadpools are some high priced PFs, wonder if they make X-23 a similar price to rogue because of the "complexity" of showing her suspended in air?

They should just name pieces by scale, post the relevant information and materials in the descriptions, and call it a day.

"Rogue 1/4 scale polystone statue".

Exactly. Although I only used the Spidey PF as an example because of the fact that it incorporates a metal rod for stability. But if it is just about complex design elements then Deadpool, Joker, X-23, Harley, etc., all fit the complexity bill.

I remember when maquettes were movie pieces and comiquettes were comic pieces.
They did not fall into the catagory of PF's because they were fully sculpted.

Oh my god. Sideshow and their weird label system. They should have a separate page on their website explaining these labels.

Then there's Legendary Scale and the use of the word figure when describing a statue.
I tend to associate the word figure with something that is pose-able.

And now we have fully sculpted PFs, mixed media maquettes, movie PFs-- and I haven't even seen the term comiquette used in a while. It would all be very confusing to a new collector I should say.

Yeah, maquettes were movie pieces, comiquettes were fully sculpted pieces, and PFs were 1/4 scale pieces with mixed media.

The problem from the start was mixing the criteria. Why make PFs only 1/4 scale, but comiquettes 1/4 and 1/5? That started the confusion because if you're new to the hobby, why wouldn't you assume that the Spider-Man comiquette was made to go alongside the Mary Jane AH comiquette? Or the X-23 with the Mystique comiquette? Meanwhile, they're different scales.

Then the DC line started and for whatever reason they decided on no DC comiquettes, maybe because they weren't licensed to do 1/5 DC, so they had to change the mixed media rule on PFs to accomodate Green Lantern and Poison Ivy. Then Galactus became a maquette because he wasn't any specific scale.

The labels keep shifting and it just creates confusion and backwards justifications. Just tell us the scale and materials because that's all anyone cares about anyway.

Clearly, X-23, Wolverine, Magneto and Rogue were all made to go together, so why are two of them maquettes and two of them PFs? Why create this confusion for new customers at all? Just tell us the scale and price them however you want.
