The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

I saw that too. Too much other stuff dropping here in the next month or so, but I'll definitely get one soon enough. I've never seen the movie either.

I saw some in hand photos on a FB page a few days ago. Looked spot on. I placed my order on flex after I saw it.

Because this is a statue (piece of resin plastic) that is
1) over $400 with shipping and tax
2) yet barely an inch taller than most $250 Hot Toys figures or 1/6 scale statues from other studios
3) replicating a piece of artwork that I've loved for over forty years
4) despite all that, something I've still been contemplating picking up
...because of all that I'm going to be even more hyper critical than usual.

For the most part, that cell phone pic sample looks great Two areas don't look so hot to me though
- what looks like clunky shading on the rider. It's there on the prototype too, I realize now, but far more subtle in application. Could be the photo, so I'll hold off on this criticism until more, and better photos arrive.
- the demarcation between the blue and ochre on the leg. It is more of a smooth and gradual transition on the prototype. Here it's so sharply demarcated, that it looks like the beast is wearing thigh-high leggings.

Are they deal killers? No.

But those things do drag it down IMO. Especially because of the excessive mark up on this, paint apps should be 100% on point.

Sorry to come across like a pain-in-the-ass, but like I said I've appreciated this art ever since I first saw it in a newspaper ad mat back in grade school. It was high on my wish list of fantasy projects I'd love to see get made.
And for the most part, it does look killer.

I don't even really have a problem with the size too much. While just a few inches bigger would have been more impressive overall, my main beef is the basic perception of value.
This is a ridiculously expensive piece for what we are getting.

Take Tweeterhead's Starfire for just one example. It's is an inch taller and three times as heavy. Yet for me it would be $150 less delivered.
As much as I also love that character, I'm far less enchanted with the looks of that statue. Regardless of that, the perception of value is far higher there than it is here.

Even the ES isn't so restrictive as to justify it.

Sorry, just had to vent.

So width doesn't add value? Just height and weight?
