BEST WAYS TO STRIP?? (paint, that is...)

For at least one of the figures that storage damaged, I'd like to strip the factory paint and start over. Maybe more than one of them.

Any advice on the best ways to strip paint from...

(a) vinyl figures

and from

(b) statues / resin kits...

...without damaging the figures themselves?

Again, many thanks for your advice!

I use acetone on pre paint statues (Clay More, SS, HH, DC, Marvel etc...). I buy those gallon containers at home depot, poor it into a tin foil cooking container and place the statue in it. Use rubber gloves and a tooth brush, gets is clean down the the resin and takes like 2min.

Other people use castrol cleaner and put the item into a zip lock bag and let it sit for 20min, but i like the acetone method on mine. I did a write up in kit builders magazine issue 60 in case you wanted step by step with pictures.

I wouldnt use acetone on resin kits or vinyl, cause that stuff will eat it up. Not sure how the castrol cleaner works on them, and i am sure someone will post info on them.

I also use acetone to strip pre-painted statues for repaints or repairs.

Thanks!

I always thought the resin used in pre-painted statues was similar to the resin used in kits, but based on Vince-Vell's comments, they're different.

I'll check out Kitbuilders # 60, too.

Any advice on safely getting paint off vinyl figures would also be very much appreciated.
