I dont think it has much to do with collector's age but what has proven to hold its popularity. Look at all the so called grail statues. Most of them are classic versions. The ones that aren't is usually because Sideshow never gave us a choice and the attributes of the sculpt stood on their own.

The hobby is full of fans that collect purely because of aesthetics. It looks good therefore I buy it. I know nothing about the character and may be I'll learn later...or I won't. The question then becomes how sustainable that approach is before one moves on to something else.

Yeah, you don't necessarily have to be a huge fan of a particular character in order to be drawn to a piece. Falling in love with a piece is a combination of nostalgia/fandom and aesthetics.

If you're a huge fan of a niche character that rarely gets statues, then you will probably be willing to settle with a statue that is not ideally executed. If you know nothing about a character statue but love the design/execution of the piece, you might consider picking it up and reading up on the character.

The point of collecting is to gradually acquire pieces that make you feel excited to own and display!

I was 100% sold on this peice but seeing it in full detail I’ve lost my keenness. I even went and sourced DM: BWLs comic anticipating having this.

I’m not really sure why though? One thing I think is the dull the Robins... I feel like they needed to really pop in order to contrast the overall morbid feel of the piece.

One else feel the same?

Either way it’s still an amazing piece of art. Just no longer for me.... unless I had it repainted...

I think the Robins needed to be more vivid like Damien...

I guess the whole premise of this piece got me interested in the artwork over the past months. The portrait and sculpt to me are perfect. It’s increbile and has so much presence just as I thought it’s would.

I’ve been having closer looks now and where I could picture it in my collection before, now I just feel like it would be too dull to really have the detail pop.

Will probably change my mind though simply due to the sculpt, it’s truly incredible and I can’t ever see this character being done again.
