Darwin is one of the retcon X-Men that were the first team Xavier trained to go save the original X-Men from the living Island. 2 actually survived without Vulcan and Darwin.

but for some reason i can't put my finger on i thought "sway" was a vaguely racist, ugly name for an asian girl. and describing her power as "having sway over time" was D.U.M.B. i find darwin creepy.

I didn't really like any of them, and I don't like the idea of Vulcan as a bad guy, his motives don't make any sense. He was the only one of them eager to join Prof X, and now he wants to kill him because of his failure? Besides I hate these bad guys with unlimited power. Okay so we found out that Havok could attain more power than Vulcan but he was trumped because Vulcan has the entire Shiar Imperial Guard behind him.
