Marvel Masterworks

Any big collectors of these books here?

Man, I just love these books. Does anyone know if they sell entire sets?

Well, I really liked them when they began the collections way back in umpteen-dippety-six, but the 10-issues-per-book pace was killing me, along with the restarts and multiple dust jacket changes (of course, the Essentials are no slouches when it comes to format changes - don't get me started). I haven't seen any sets offered through retail, but they turn up on eBay. Also, my LCS has quite a collection of both older and newer editions, and most are shrink-wrapped. If there are some specific volumes/editions you want, I can check for you.

I buy each one that comes out...I believe we're up to the high 30's now on the volume number.

Hey there, I began a collection of these at Christmas. So far I have all the Spideys, the Silver Surfers, and the Uncanny X-Mens, the first 6 FFs, vol 1 of Iron-Man, vols 1 and 3 of Thor, vol 1 of Cap and vol 1 of Avengers. I'm planning to add Thor vol 2, FF vols 7 and 8 soon and Spidey vol 7 when it comes out. I traded in some old style volumes I got cheap years ago and my spare Invisible Woman statue and got a bunch of them that way. Does anyone know a good, cheap reliable retailer for these (in the UK or US) that isn't Tales of Wonder? They have a restrictive policy on first-time international buyers that I am inclined not to support. Anyone starting out should try and get Iron-Man vol 1 and Thor vol 2 pretty sharpish. They are no longer available on back-order from Previews.

So far I only have the first volume. I thought about collecting them also but I spend enough money on comics as is. Also if I started I would have to get them all and I dont think my visa can take that kind of strain.

I just get the Spider-man volumes and the first Daredevil. I think I may pick up the first Dr. Strange though.

Probably not a big surprise but I'm a big collector of these. I have:

- All the Spider-Man
- All the FF
- All the Thor
- All the DD
- Both the Silver Surfer
- Both Hulk
- First 2 Avengers (not into Don Heck's art)
- Single volumes (thus far) of Dr. Strange, Sub-Mariner, Captain America

Furie, don't think anyone is packaging full sets but that's a great marketing idea.

I have every one that has come out except the Golden Age Marvel one that has Marvel Comics 1-4 in it. 42 great books. Because I've gotten them from the beginning, I've tried to get the variant editions where I could, but have a few I do not have variant covers for.

I like the variant covers as they match the style of the original release Masterworks.

Be careful if you purchase the original first print of Marvel Masterworks #24 as it does not include Uncanny X-Men #121 like the printings done after.

I have yet to own any of them but I've been tempted. Especially when I go to Universal Studios it seems the comic shop there has every issue but I always considered it to be a tourist trap. Any suggestions?
