Well, the P1 Rotunda is sufficiently imposing in person. If it's going to be as big as that one, but much longer due to the pose, it would be a pretty much perfect piece in terms of size.

I'm sorry if my post came across as confrontational or something, but unless i misinterpreted what you meant, saying "the piece lacks any spark of life" is simply not true. Even if only because, just like 90% of statue with glass/acrylic eyes, the piece looks alive.

And i'm not saying this because "i love the my Chronicle", if you read the previous pages you can see i'm trying to make people desist from getting one in favor of this ECC piece, but because it's true and any owner of the piece could confirm. I'm not a good photographer, don't have nor an actual camera anymore nor any fancy lighting setups, but i think these could still convey a little what i mean:

And found this flash photo on IG some time ago:

Don't know about you but looks pretty much a real, living animal to me.

Sure, we're definitely in for some great stuff.
But still, especially after seeing Infinity Studio pieces, i'm confident when i say that i don't expect another Rex on the market to match this one in some aspects. Because i don't expect other pieces to have translucent teeth, gums and 12 claws along with a sculpt that can match or top this:

Not even that unfortunately, paint on the Chronicle isn't really accurate to any scene. It's a much simplified version of the Perot paint scheme, so nothing to do with Jurassic Park at all.

And don't forget, no stupid cheap 1$ plastic plants for once!

Interesting about IS and QS getting the licenses. I?m interested to see what they are gonna do. It?s gonna be hard to compete with Wang?s relationship with SWS and CC?s piece being from the molds.
This is Infinity Studio Rex, supposedly 1:5.

I mean, it looks good.. but not sure it's what i expected from them. It's priced extremely fairly though.

I preface the following by stating that I am a Jurassic Park/World collector only. I also sculpt the made and unmade creatures of this series in maquette forms as a side business. So I'm hyper-obsessed with the look of these creatures.

Personally, I care about the actual SWS lineage of Maquettes. So a piece like this is a little off to my eye. As stated by a few of you, there is def something off with the bottom jaw, and the lower teeth are also off of the maquette, mainly being too small.

If the purpose of this piece is to replicate the Perot Rex, I'd say it's about 80-85 percent there. Some reworking of the head and neck plus the new paint will help bring this to the next level. Excited to see it develop!
Nice to see you here. I personally don't even care if the final piece is not going to be 100% the actual maquette; for instance, i would kill for them to make the lower jaw as bulky as the CG model instead:

That along with the final proper paintjob would make this a definitive and unbeatable JP Rex for me.

This way we'd have the animatronic version from Prime 1, the maquette from Chronicle, and the definitive Rex from ECC.

Yeah Yankeerex did a killer job on that kit, no arguments from me there. For me the main reason I stayed away from that route is because of durability concerns. The value of the Chronicle 1/5 over the kit is that it is basically 1 piece of solid resin (actually I think it was plexiglass but you get my point). Unless you take a baseball bat and start hacking away at it, that thing isn't coming apart, at least on the major areas (jawline, neck, legs, tail).

The castings kit... not so much. It's hollow obviously, so it's basically a giant version of the vinyl Horizon model kits. I had a terrible time with those kits falling apart because it wasn't well balanced and there just isn't enough supporting those seams unless you fill the whole thing with plaster of paris or a wire armature or something. For me that's just too much risk to take on a high end collectible that I hope to have in my home for the rest of my life.

Add into this the issue of shipping such a fragile dino grail piece and yeah... 😵 hopefully you can see my hesitation.

Two things kill this for me: the inclusion of the "World" logo and the fact that it's the "World" Rexy, so her features have been softened.

Size and price are excellent indeed. I just can't stand anything not from the original trilogy.

Oh my gosh dude I was bewildered I took one look at that thing on my bookshelf and said "mmm sorry, not gonna work for me" lol. Looked like someone just grabbed some fake plants from a fish tank and stuck them in there

Looks like a cool piece but this not for me.

I do like then gates as a base. This is my plan when I build my male lost world 1:5 bust. I think this is a much better base than CCs base. I also wasnt a fan of how much of the neck they cut off from on the busts. The raw bust I have has much more neck and back which I like and i think Infinity did this right, but it just doesnt feel like the Rex that stole my heart.

I'm still planning to get one at some point because painting one of these myself is a dream decades in the making, and don't really want to mess with the licensed piece, but yeah those are valid points.
On one hand though, being able to freely move this thing and potentially bringing it outdoor for some photos sounds pretty refreshing compared to the immovable tank that is the official one.

But i'm sure i would always badly miss the acrylic teeth and claws and the glass eyes. I would potentially try to find glass eyes somewhere, but for the rest i'm not sure what i could do. The kit is also full of little casting issues that need to be trimmed.. it's a lot of work no doubt and spending potentially years on a model to still prefer the original in some ways is not really tempting.

Me too.

Cheap aquarium plastic plants really felt like an obligatory requirement for Jurassic pieces at this point.

Well, to be fair a longer neck would have looked pretty weird on the CC busts.

I also confess i really like their bases. Actually everything Chronicle did on their bases always felt classy to me.. with the exception of the colored logo on their little sick Trike.

the CC piece was an easy pass due to size , but this one may be the perfect combination of quality, size and price. I look forward to seeing the updates on it. ECC final products have been lacking lately, so I hope the factories can pull off a decent paint app.

I wish they would release some official measurements of this piece. Judging by the pics, I think she is gonna be right around 20? tall including the base. It?s a good size, but I think a little bigger would?ve been better, like 1:6 or 1:7. Not gigantic as the CC piece but still massive compared to other pieces.

I don't want it to be any bigger. It's getting ridiculous with the size of these pieces. Hell, you guys even posting 1200x1600 images on the forum causing the page to stretch so far I have to scroll to read the comments!
