I'm afraid the silicone arms cannot handle the weight - the arm and shield seemed to be shaking while the statue was being spun on the video, which gives me the impression that it's not very strong to support the weight.

Very impressed with the folds of the skin along the back and shoulder blades, very realistic.
James doesn't recommend holding the arms or legs when taking it out of the box just to avoid breakage. That says a lot about the rigidity of silicone body.

I'm not too concerned about the weight of the shield... a bit more curious about will wobble/ vibration jar it loose.

My house is all wood floors. This was the problem with Harley. Just walking by it would knock the bat loose( I hold it in place with invisible fishing line).

Will have to wait and see what people who get it early say.

Well if it has a slight wobble as you move around, that makes it even more life like, as it’ll seem to be alive and breathing We can consider it an extra feature.

Sort of like how my Robosen Optimus Prime‘s robotics have animated breathing when it’s on standby.

I don't know what to make of James not specifically showing how to attach the shield to the figure. Is the hand supposed to grip the last strap?

I also don't buy that they were motivated by aesthetic reasons to include a base so that you "didn't have to cover up" her figure by having her hold it.

I'll have to see when it comes in, but I hope both the sword and shield are ridiculously light, because any little amount of weight is going to drag on that silicone over time.

Was not expecting those arms to be full, pliable, silicone. I though for sure this would have a very rigid and solid resin core from the head through the trunk and limbs.

I agree with you, and share your concerns.

I'm trying to not be a drama queen about this piece.....but, the more I think about what I've seen, the more apprehensive I'm becoming about buying into this.

I, like you, was expecting a, more or less, solid statue - with a silicone "skin" overlay. An endoskeleton, if you will. What we're actually getting, elicits thoughts of jelly glued to plastic, and nothing here gives me the feeling of it being substantial or robust.

I know this piece has one job, and that consideration is really the only thing keeping me in the game on this one.....but, and I say this carefully, I'm wondering if JND has pushed too far on this one, and leaned too heavily into the "silicone is bestest" mindset.

I'm 50/50 with cancelling my order.....I love the realism and portrait, but that's it....nothing else (Engineering wise) on this piece attracts me at all.

I didn't realize you had this on order, Silas!

Are you going through a retailer? If so, you will probably have some time to gauge what the actual impressions are from the direct buyers, as far as the integrity goes.
If you do decide to get it and then change your mind, I do not think you would have a hard time at all flipping it. Would probably even turn a profit to boot.

I'm definitely getting over the whole fascination with silicone.

Right now, and until early spring at least, I've got P1's Lynda Carter displayed where this Gal will eventually go.
Nit picks aside, I love it! Does it make a difference to my appreciation that it isn't silicone? Not in the least.
In fact, the thing that may be muting my criticisms of it is the fact that it's not high maintenance.
No need for a case. Give it a brushing/dusting every couple weeks and it's fine.
Lower stress = more pleasure.

I've purchased direct from JND, and it's fully paid

It hasn't shipped (yet) - so there's a sliver of time to backtrack, but, this means I'm in the "Vanguard"

With regards to the "silicone revolution" - I'd love to tell you I'm strong enough to say no to future offerings.....and I'd like that to be the case.....but as long as my focus is hyperrealism, the number of viable alternative products is pretty thin on the ground - and this is why I'm watching Blitzway like a hawk, to see how well their products turn out - and the head to head "battle" with JND over The Witcher is going to be a landmark test case.

The Blitzway Batman Returns Catwoman, looks like it came out very nice (it's on my watchlist) - but it doesn't really prove the concept in the same way a fully unmasked portrait would have done.

Wow! I can’t count how many times I said “This is insane!” during the video. This will be my absolute Grail Retirement Piece. In a way, it’s inspired me to focus / curate my collection because I just thought of all the things I’d sell to get this. In short, I just matured during this video.
