It (2017) - 8.5/10

The best thing about this movie is it's cast. These kids were perfect. The movie also does a great job of making the audience care about it's characters instead of just being fodder for the *insert scary monster/bad guy* of your average horror flick. To top it off it's set in the 80s. Yeah, a good time at the movies. Could probably rate it higher but I'll wait for a second viewing.

EDIT: Forgot I use a decimal scoring system. Definitely adding .5.

I'm a sucker for great atmosphere and character development. This film nailed both for me and I'm also a huge fan of zombie horror as well and this felt like a nice twist on that.

As for the sequel, I read it was horrible. I may check it out at some point myself, but I'm reluctant to say the least.

Stakeland 2 is a bit of a let down though.

Wrymwood 7/10 Aussie zombie movie. The first aid kit scene made me laugh out loud.

The Descent - 9/10

Another of the greats from this past decade. Director Neil Marshall, who Directed some of the very best episodes of Game of Thrones, creates a totally unique and intense horror experience with this film. A group of adventurous females find themselves trapped in a series of caves while being hunted by a mysterious force. The most uneasy claustrophobic feeling you'll likely ever get from a movie. The score and cinematography really stand out on this one. Gory, dark and pulls no punches. Nothing cliche about this film. One of my top ten favorite horror films of all time.

Epic film. Too bad there was nowhere to go but (way) down for the franchise after this brilliant gem.

The Descent is one of those films that really is best as a self contained story. It didn't need and never should've received a sequel IMO. Especially if you go with the more ambiguous and dark original UK ending as opposed to the inferior trimmed down US cut.

Transformers- The last Knight 5/10
Michael Bay... I know what to expect of him,I like his stuff for the most part, but the transformers franchise has been in steady decline since the first one . This is easily his worst work...maybe almost as worse as the last one. The script is incoherent garbage, the movie feels like it's been chopped and glued together. Terrible.
