HD DVD Player question
With all this talk about an HD DVD player, can I just use my component cables and still get the upconvert or do I need an HDMI for this?
I only have one HDMI on my TV and it's being used by my HD Cable Box.

It would be better to buy an HDMI switch.
This will solve your problem:

That or buy a new LCD with more than one HDMI input lol. Its silly that the tvs only came with one. I am in the same situation but i just bought a switch box (it came without a HDMI cable) so i now need to buy yet another cable.

cougar, you can also buy a switch that has digital audio inputs too you.
So each input would have HDMI and optical.

To answer your original question, yes. Although picture will not be as nice.
Instead of a switcher you should get an AV receiver to enjoy 5-7.1 sound on movies and games.
