No joke, someone was asking $412 for an empty XM Storm box on eBay.

I got the original full-size Thing Bowen statue off eBay without a box for only $100 and that would be a statue I would never get rid of because it’s the Thing

I also got the full-size original black widow Bowen statue from my LCB asked for only $60. It did have the box but it did not have the Styrofoam insert. I had considered selling that one at one time but then I remembered I didn’t have the Styrofoam insert and I just said forget it

The good thing about keeping the shippers is: you can play Tetris every time you rearrange them when you got something new or sold a piece

I once bought the brown shipper of Sideshows first Hulk PF for 100 Euro because mine was damaged. Also shippers from Master Replicas are highly sought after. On a fair I did not buy the Signature Luke Lightsaber for a bargain, just because it was missing the shipper

If one were to toss the foam inside the box, what would be a good alternative to pack a statue maybe just for the sake of a move?

Packing peanuts?

Bubble wrap?

Air pillows?

Star Trek Transporter?

I would take the statue back apart, wrap it, and then try to see what spray foam or those fun foam bags would do. I'm not sure if they release heat upon reaction, but test them out on a non-statue first. All of the foam is more sturdy than air packs, peanut, or bubble wrap. Bubble wrap would be my second choice for sure.

If you're going to try to wrap statues and use spray foam, be sure to use a minimal expansion foam. Anything else could create excess pressure that wouldn't play well with hollow statues...

I would be worried that Spray Foam could stick to the statue permanently and damage it.

Years ago I sold the Bowen Mr Fantastic statue and I did not have a shipping box for it. I ended up wrapping it gently in bubble wrap and place it is a very large box with a combination of packing peanuts and more bubble wrap. It had to be shipped to Florida and it did arrive ok however I was saying a prayer every day that it would arrive ok.

So far I have not crossed the line and tossed them boxes. Thank you Demona, Zenlogikos, and mmk123 for the inputs! Understanding what I would need to do if I went without the foam is of great help. I can see why many choose to just hold on to the boxes.

Inquiring minds want to know - how many boxes bit the dust? Got photos of the carnage?
