I know I've done the same to Hughes twice, no reply.
Ken Kelly, Ray Lago, always a reply.
Maybe I should stick with these guys.
Sounds like Sale's is not a "convention" sketch at that price and needing to contact in advance. More like a "commission" piece.
Hughes goes by who buys from him in the past and/or buys something from him at a show. That's why it doesn't matter if you get your name on the list first or not.

Yeah me and Monster figured that out about Hughes.

From someone who has tried on numerous occassions to get a piece from Sale, don't hold your breath.

He has blown me off on several occasions even when I contracted him way in advance and would pay what he wanted. I'm not trying again.

I hope you have much better fortune than me, but for someone who seems to be quite willing to deal with monster, he has strung me along just to say "nah, never mind" a few times to often.

Its really hit or miss with Tim. He doesn't do alot of commissions and usually only finishes a few each show, if that. I've known Tim since '95 and have been fortunate to get quite a few pieces over the years.

Here is a quote from Tim I found on his site:

There are definitely times when I would like to do nothing but spend my days doing commissions. They are a ton of fun -- too much fun sometimes, and you guys are consistently coming up with ideas that spark my imagination, whether it's a character from comics I've never drawn, or something outside, like your Captain Jack, Jared.

But comics needs to be the priority (otherwise who cares about my commissions?), and now HEROES takes up extra time. So I really hope that you all understand that I can't be consistent about my commission production, and that whatever happens to get done, know that it was something that inspired me and that I had fun doing. I wish I had more hours in the day, and more energy, because I really really like the interplay we all have about this, it's really very inspirational for me.

Hang in there. I'll do what I can, and I'm not stopping any time soon, that's for sure.

Thanks, gang.
