Man, those photos really expose how awful the JND suit is. It looks like it's made of bubble wrap. Shame.

I think the likeness is phenomenal.
There is most certainly a portion of the collecting community that tend to hate and ridicule, rather than critique fairly with either an explanation or some constructive critisism on what they think is missing.
It's usually the same old people, and it's sad to see.
It goes beyond just having an opinion when the same people week in week out complain. It gets super repetitive.
I'm happy to say when I don't think a likeness is quite there, but I wouldn't trash it out of respect for the artists.
This thing is damn amazing!!!

To many, there isn’t a difference between the two.
I have now decided to not say anything good or bad about a JND piece. So nowadays I only comment about general things rather than critiquing any part of a JND piece, whether it’s about sculpt, pose, costume, paint or base. It’s just not worth the backlash if you critique any part except for maybe pose.
I won’t even reference a JND piece relative to another manufacturer, as some find that annoying too.

People see different things.
Xenoburger just left a comment saying the JND suit is "awful" - I went back to the reference photos, and I can't see any difference between the photos and JND's work. This doesn't mean he's wrong, and I'm right....I guess we just see different things.
In the end, opinions are just opinions. It's very easy to get caught up in heated debates, but rarely will such debates "convince" the other side.....and why should they? At the end of the day, we're all grown ups, spending our own money, tending to our own personal collections.

The thing about the costume, is that both the Prime 1’s were made like the movie where the blue suit was pulled over a silver body. In person this effect is quite pleasing to the eye.
Not saying the Prime 1 was perfect as both did have their own issues. There is the dreaded armpit issue of the 1/3 scale and I read that the 1/2 scale did on occasion have excess glue problems.

JND is trying to accomplish that effect with just the paint apps- and (IMO) they are off base in their approach.
The shift to highlight from shadow is too sharp and too steep, which is making the suit sculpt look worse than it is.
Rather than going with that dramatic a difference between hues and values, they should get them significantly closer in both areas (and maybe use some additive like pearlescence to the highlight app?).
The point is to make it an extremely subtle, not loud, difference- as it is now on the prototype.
(a sloppy illo, but only so much I can do with the limitations of Preview. This is kinda/sort of what it looks like when you get those values closer together)

Looking at Queens bust, it looks like they're not even trying to get that effect. But given that it's not much of the chest, it can probably get away with it.
