Nothing good, I'm afraid. Jim's mother is worse off than we originally thought, and it doesn't look like she'll even make it to Christmas, even with treatment.
Jim's going up to stay with them this weekend, but I'm staying home. I think there are some times in cases like this when the family needs some time alone to work out some stuff that would be awkward with a son-in-law sitting right there.

i hate hearing this Doug - you both are still in my thoughts and prayers... this has to be tough on Jim, and you also...
it has to be hard to be there for Jim but at the same time like you said give him and his family the space they need to make it through this...
I hate that you both have to go through this...
