I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Bug Bombs and Statues: Do They Get Along?
We live in Texas. Texas has roaches the size of small dogs. We need to bug bomb. Badly. Anyhoo, my question is: Will the bombs affect my statues? I have them in Detolfs, would sealing the corners/edges with tape be enough protection? Do I need to move them all out of the house for the duration? Or am I just freaking out for nothing? I just don't want to damage any of my precious'.[/geek]
Thanks.

Yikes! The roaches are that bad?
You may have already done this, but I would set out traps like crazy and get an exterminator to spray doors, cabinets, crawlspaces, etc before I'd consider bombing the place. I don't know if it would have an adverse effect on your collection, but there would definitely be some type of residue left over, and the less of that on your posessions, the better. Maybe if you sealed them, and then covered them with plastic or tarps, that should be okay. I think the gas in those bombs is fairly heavy, so it doesn't stay airborne for too long.

It's an older home and it has lots of nooks, crannies, crack, and gapping holes that I've tried to patch up, but the little disgusting ba**ards still get in. I just want to make sure I don't come home to display cases full of melted puddles of resin or piles of flaked off paint.

I wouldn't leave my collection in the area of a bug bomb.

I would get some plastic painting tarps to cover and seal them up if you aren't wanting to move them.

I would pack those statues up or something then bomb the hell out of those bugs. I would guess that those bombs have some chemicals that might not destroy the statues, but really dull them up or cloud the clear coats on them.
i wouldnt take the chance.

Might be annoying to pack it all up, but think how annoyed you'd be if you came back to 50 colorless Bowen pieces...

Thanks. I think I'll take your sage advise and not be lazy. Packin' 'em up it is!
