WTF!?! I figured there was a season left in the narrative before tying directly into EP III and they can't even let it play out. We didn't even get to see Ashoka's fate. Man that just pisses me off.

Wow, you really didn't know? They canceled it about a month ago, but will be releasing specific arcs as "bonus content", whatever that means. It will no longer be on CN though. Apparently they had already done quite a bit of work on next season, which is what they will be finishing.

Yeah, apparently the original, or most recent plan was for eight seasons, that's been flushed.

Bunch of BS!! I'm so sick of serialized television programing (animated or otherwise) getting axed before they have a chance to complete the intended vision or arc.

SW:CW was my last animated series, I'm done with networks canceling shows too soon, or screwing up the momentum by dicking with the schedule.
In this case I believe it was Lucasfilm's decision to start clearing the decks of SW in order to build up demand for the new stuff coming down the pike. They want to starve fans, so that we're hungry by the time the first of the new films hits, at least that's the speculation.
