I read mostly non fiction books. Just finished reading Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers. Will read his Tipping Point book next.

Just finished Handling the Undead by John "Let the Right One In" Lindqvist. Not as good as LTROI, but not bad.
Bit of non fiction next - Bad Science by Ben Goldacre.

For my Educational Foundations class I will be starting Jonathan Kozol's "The Shame of the Nation" which discusses how American's school are now more segregated than in 1968.

Just finished Robin Hobb's Soldier Son trilogy...I was underwhelmed to say the least, her worst work yet.
Also, I finally got round to reading Goodnight Mr Tom, such a cool book, even if it is for kids.

At about 450 pages and it has gotten better. It took the better part of 250 pages to actually get interesting.
One thing that I noticed and find kinda stupid/annoying is this authors obsession with degrading women/anomosity towards women and how he gets too into it and sex scenes, like I am reading a dirty article out of a Hustler magazine. In one rape scene in the book it comes across like the author is glorifying it. It is one thing to set the tone of how men and women are viewed unequal during a certain period of time (this takes place in the middle-ages), but he takes to to a point that it actually takes you out of the novel and you find yourself saying "what is this authors damage?". It stands out enough that it kinda hurts the book overall IMO.
I have heard alot of fantastic things about this book, so I will continue on to the very end.
My next book on deck is a pretty hardcopy of War and Peace I just picked up..yay!

Finally finished Pillars of the Earth, and give it a big fat thumbs down.
This book could have also been heavily edited down. It did not need to be 900+ pages. I have read books that are and they don't feel 900+ pages long, or have enough story to warrant it, but this one did not.
I am about 60 pages into War and Peace right now.

Finished Bad Science which I would certainly recommend.
About 100 pages into 1974 by David Peace now.

Dan Brown's Lost Symbol. I admit I feel a bit like a Lemming reading this, but I've never read anything by this guy and it takes place in my home town. Third of the way through and I gotta admit, it is a page-turner.
