Absolutley nothing. I just got done converting all my VHS to DVD and now I'm expected to transfer again. Standard DVD's picture and sound are just fine with me.

HD and Blue Ray will fail!

It's never fun to have to convert but there's really no need to look at it that way. I've got well over 1000 DVDs and no way in hell am I going to get rid of them or convert even a fraction of them. But, going forward I am definitely going to switch over to HD-DVD and possibly Blu-Ray. There is nothing wrong with the SD DVD picture and sound but you are only fooling yourself if you think they are just as good as HD. HD blows them away. The nice thing about the new players is they upconvert SD DVDs and make them look even nicer than they already are. As far as I'm concerned it's been a win-win situation. The two format war sucks and I hope that we get a clear winner and soon.

As for HD and Blu-Ray failing, I doubt it. Technology always moves forward, like it or not.

I'd prefer to have one player though. I notice alot of you either way will end up getting both players. I hope there's a clear cut winner.

Unless of course you actually do have an HD-DVD Collection but there's nothing in it, which would be odd.

So delete my post so I can take my turn at starting a thread about how all the mods suck and how I'm leaving the forum forever!

We're all waiting for the good movies. We should start to see them before the end of the year. I mentioned this elsewhere, it's a Catch-22 situation. The studios are holding out until there is a bigger player base and the consumer is holding out until there are some good movies out there. Of course if they were to release say, the LOTR, I'm sure that would cause a nice upswing in the sale of players. They're coming, hopefully soon.

I think that's the perfect time to take sides. See what flicks get released by who and for what format. I'd hate to just jump in only to not be able to see the films I want and having spent so much cash, not able to get the other player.
