I never root for big business over small (although in the case of MHC that is really stretching the term "small") but I found much of his rant comical and sad and I seriously doubt he was going for a comedic effect.

i could never understand why people complain that there business is doing bad when there charging almost double what you can get that back issue for online. A couple of years back they were selling trades for 10% to 25% of where everyone on the floor was selling there stuff for 50% off

Given both my 6 year old niece and 14 year old nephew do everything on their IPad's including reading comics, the future looks grim for comic book shops... The newer generation of kids are going all digital... It's easier to just log into DC or Marvel's website and instantly d/led the newest comic then it is to talk mom and dad into driving you to the local comic book shop
I have to admit even I pretty much d/led all my comics now directly from DC or Marvel.

If we go (finally!) to SDCC next year, I can't see us buying much of anything either. Who wants to lug stuff around for 8 hours? Also, as so many people are arriving from so far away, I can't see many people wanting to lug the stuff back home on the plane either.

It can be a pricey mini-vacation. When I went I think I spent about $1,500 when it was all said and done. I flipped the stuff I didn't care about and brought that down to $800 or so which isn't bad. But it's brutal for out of towners...I paid $100 just to ship all my crap home, there was no way it was going on the plane.
