Question Sculpting geometrical figures and static objects

Hi there,

I'm starting sculpting with Super sculpey (soon I'll put some pics in the proper topic): results are not that bad since material is so immediate and easy to get used to it but I'm completely clueless about geometrical objects.
Sculpting swords, guns, base, anything with straight lines and simmetrical proportions are really a mistery to me and my attempts resulted in complete failures.
So, someone willing to share some advices? For instance, I need to prepare 1/6 medieval sword and 2 lightsabers, but I don't know where to start...

Thanks for the help!!!

My advise would be to use everything and anything you can to get the job done.

Don't limit yourself to just using the clay, buy pieces of styrene or brass from the hobby shop to make your sword and lightsaber. Also any bits and pieces you have around the house can be used. Apoxi Sculpt, Plumbers Putty and Milliput are also really good to use in your sculpt. Some sculptors out there are incredible at doing this.. check out Pablo Viggiano's work.

I'll give you the same advice.
For complex parts using any suitable object.
But do not put it in the oven ...
I made this gun using:
a few pieces of a USB key
2 aluminum tubes
2 cursors of an old walkman
and a few pieces of plastic ....
Once painted who could say what was achieved?
Ciao Lucio

This is phenomenal Lucio, a truly inspiring work. Thanks a lot.
Do you also use styrene sheets? I saw this advice in previous posts but I still have to tried it, since I can't manage to find some in my city.

yes I also use sheets of styrene.
The last statue is a biker.
The lower part of the bike is made with pieces of styrene.
The above part is a thin sheet made of superculpey, on an armature in aluminum foil
The materials can be mixed, does not have to be all modeled with the sculpey.
However, these details should be added at the end

I live in a small town, there are not hobby shops ...
The necessary (sculpey, styrene, etc. ...) I buy it through the internet.

Ciao Lucio
