Gabriel Garcia Marquez (1927 - 2014)

One of my favorite authors died today. Among his many works is the novel 100 Years of Solitude (1967), which greatly affected my perspective on life and literature. Also, it has one of the best first lines ever:

Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano BuendÃ-a was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice.

Rest in peace, sir.

Definitely one of the best writers of the last century. A well deserved 1982 Novel price in literature. Proud son of Colombia and Latin America. R.I.P., Sir.
