Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I want to order the bioshock gaming heads Rosie statue at $600 US. To get it to my door it's around $1252 Canadian.

Here are the calculations:

Start at $600 US
Quoted Shipping from Gaming Heads is $195 US !! ($795)
Exchange at 1.31 ($1041)
Duty and Taxes 13% ($1176)
New 6.5% Tax ($1252)

So a $600.00 US statue to get to my door in Toronto is over DOUBLE the price, $1252.00

To keep collecting, you have to be totally okay with paying a 65% premium over sticker prices on everything. It's flipper prices without the flipper. Going for cheaper stuff like 1/6 doesn't work either, because you're still overpaying by the same proportion, it just hurts a little less because the bills are a bit smaller.

I might as well just rent a storage locker, take a vacation to the states with the family once/year, and pick up all my boxes tax free. Better to spend the cash on myself then give it to the gov lol.

I was thinking the same thing. How would you explain to customs agent your van full of statues? lol

If you are away 2 days you are allowed $800 per person. In my case (family of 4) I could declare $3200 and not pay a penny.

A friend of mine kind of does that. He doesn't have a storage locker but when he orders statues from Weta (3 to 4 at a time), he has them shipped to a store in Ogdensburg, NY and he and the wife will go on a weekend trip and voila, no duty and majority of the time no taxes. Ogdensburg is 40 - 50 mins from Ottawa, so not bad drive.

The question is, can you fit a family of 4 and $3200 worth of statues in the car?

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

Has anyone here used any of the U.S address rental services in Buffalo? I live about 2 hours away from Buffalo and could make the drive, I would just need a legit and reliable service. Again, I would rather spend the money on the trip than give it to the government.

And maybe too, if anyone on here has used ANY of the US receiving addresses across the border, they could list it, so that others could refer to it and if you were happy with their service and the process you used and followed.
