Yes, but also like how it helps but that she struggles handling the staff. Makes for a better pay off when she inevitably masters it in the future.

My son talked me into watching the pilot and I'm glad I did! I was expecting the typical CW drivel and this was definitely better than that! AND...they had my favorite DC villain admittedly in the shadows, but done the way he always should have been done!!! I don't want to spoil who it is yet in case spoilers aren't allowed yet, but I sure loved the JSA sections as well and hope they do A LOT of flashback scenes. If this continues to develop like the pilot, I'm definitely going to keep watching. If it turns into another CW joke and everyone gets a cosmic staff or the boy friend or girl friend get a power transfer from the hero so they can be hero for a day or whatever lame angle they've taken over and over again from Smallville to the Flash series, then I'll check out real quick.
But...so far so good!

Well from this online poster it appears there will be powers coming to her "friends".

Star Girl definitely looks the best. That Dr. Mid-Nite...not so much...
So, this is sort of like the Shazam approach where all her friends become super too, huh?
It's like Syndrome says in the Incredibles..."Cause when everyone is super...then no one will be". That might not be the exact quote, but I agree with the premise of the thought.
I think it just cheapens the whole thing when everyone has to be super. It's like everyone has to be included or they'll feel bad.
Now to be fair, the way they've set this up, I can sort of see them doing something like this, but I really hope they're not a bunch of goof balls. The JSA shouldn't be a bunch of goof balls.
I'll give it another few episodes to see where it goes, maybe I'll even watch the first six or seven episodes to give it a good shot.
Hopefully it doesn't become a teenage angst fest.

Trying to cram in as many characters as possible is DC signature move in order to sell merchandise of lesser know characters. They pretty much do it in all their series... It's one of the reasons the original creators of Smallville left after 4 seasons because DC was pushing them to bring in all these other superheros... Which IMO ruined the show... look at Green Arrow and The Flash the first seasons were all about them that's why the show was so good but later on it was all about how many new characters they could run through the show...
I would prefer DC just make a handful of really great shows instead of lots of crappy ones...

I do think this definitely explains when the JSA came back at the end of Doomsday Clock why we saw Yolanda Montez Wildcat and Beth Chapel Dr Midnight. (Not that I object because I always loved those versions of those characters)

After the 2nd episode I would say it's definitely a family show aimed at young teens… Although it does seem better than anything on the CW network ATM…
I'm probably going to pass on this series... At least I got Harley Quinn to watch
