Here's a quite storm of a Barbarian book. I've read the 1st 2 issues of Dynamite Comic's Queen Sonja and I've been pretty impressed. The 2nd issue just hit (11/25). Writer Josh Ortega has, in 2 issues, kicked off a pretty cool story arc involving Sonja returning w/ others to an enslaved kingdom, getting captured on purpose, all in order to fight from within.
I've been pretty hot and cold with Dynamite's Sonja, some of which has been outstanding (the Frank Cho written, mini was great).
This one stands out 'cause Mel Rubi's art is very good and the violence notch has really been turned up. Sonja is really shown to be a ruthless fighter in the 1st 2 issues, tearing out a man's throat w/ her bare hands in one panel.
You all know that I've been reading Barbarian comics for a long time (I started this thread) and I think this is worth a read. Came outta left field but I'm diggin' this one.

Just recieved the new Dark Horse, Conan, Barry Windsor Smith Archives from Amazon. $32 which is a great price. This is just like a Marvel Masterworks or a DC Archives only with a full color box on the cover instead of a paper cover. 270 pages of early Marvel Conan, perfectly reprinting the 1st 11 issues of Roy and Barry's genius. Great binding and amazing print quality.
I couldn't be happier with this.

I've given in and am now making my comic purchases through Amazon. This sounds like a good one.

Savage Sword of Conan and Dark Horse's Conan relaunch are both miles better in my opinion. Conan the Barbarian was still very good, but always struck me as way too sanitised for my taste, even way back in the day.

Warren Ellis is at it again with another chapter of his killer Wolfskin. This one's called Wolfskin, Hundredth Dream and the 1st ish hit Wednesday. I read it today and liked it very much. This time the wolf-killing barbarian teams up with four other rogues in a return to a northern kingdom, very much like Hrothgar in his hunt for Grendel, in a quest to kill a monster. Ellis explains that the time is the in-between decades between the new Christianity and the death of the age of gods, monsters and magic. Of coarse the book has the amped-Wolfskin violence and his vulgar and hilarious matter-of-fact approach to life. Pick it up if you're into the barbarian comic scene.
