Should I wait for a PS4?

I haven't bought a gaming console since 2002 but I have been interested in the PS3 and would like to buy it. The only thing is I don't want to get something that will be obsolete soon, so I was wondering should I wait for a PS4?

It has been stated and speculated that this current console generation is going to last longer that generations past.

The 360 was released in November of 2005 and the PS3 and Wii were released November of 2006. To my knowledge no one is even talking about the next systems from Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft.

I think you are safe. Plus with a PS3 you get a Blueray player if nothing else.

you'll be waiting a long time...Xbox and Sony both stated a new system is prob a good 4-5 years away...thats why they are "upgrading" the systems soon...

Microsoft will feature project Natal (within the year)
Sony has a project coming in the same timeframe...
Both are to update the systems to use more 3d and motion control...

I'm so glad too. A five year console generation is too soon. I have so much money tied up in what I already have between games and accessories, I have no interest in starting over.

Also the systems out now are sooo powerful, there is no need to change like they did back in the day...

I'm hoping and assuming that since HDD's are pretty much mandatory now that all DLC, especially full games, will be transferable to new systems once they become available.

I must have 80+ XBLA games on my hard drive right now. Would be a shame if they didn't transition over one day.

Yeah they really need to make this Transferable, or I think they will lose alot of new sales. But luckily we have a long wait to find out!!!

I'm very excited to see what Natal is capable of. I hope it isn't gimmicky like the current camera and the game it came with, Totem Ball.

Uber fail!
