Arctic ice to vanish in summer

LONDON, England (CNN) -- New data released Thursday suggests that the Arctic Ocean will be "largely ice free" during summer within a decade.

Time to move further inland.

Long Island might not be so long anymore.

The Earth has gone through great periods of change in the past. Why would people think it wouldn't do it again?

But just because Earth's weather patterns are volatile (over eons, mind you) doesn't mean that this current shift isn't man-made, or at least heavily affected by human influence. I'm no expert either, but there's too much science in terms of human effect for it to be completely bogus and/or paid off opinion, IMHO.

In any case, and whatever your personal politics, things are obviously changing, and that's something we'll have to deal with.

massive weather patterns changes actually follow a very short period of 40 years according to study of earths crust. extreme full ice age or heat waves take longer but the ice caps going away or even moving would not be extreme but very common. sure its enough for most of us to die but not alla nd this goes to why the study of space is worth a lot more then 79 million dollars.
