Presumably mutation occurs by chance, and some mutants will just draw the short straw.

For me, Beak. A character who just turned me off completely. In fact, when he joined the Exiles I dropped the book after two issues because he just irked me too much.

I must admit I have always been a fan of Maggott especially when he was drawn by Joe Madureira. The two slugs were kinda cool and I simply liked the man.

or

The lamest mutant in my book is Skin. At best he is a very bad copy of Mr. Fantastic and at worst he is simply a character which cannot be taken seriously. Why in the world did Marvel ever come up with him?

Here's what the Marvel officially says about him:

quote
Strength level: Skin possesses the normal human strength of a man his age, height, and build who engages in moderate regular exercise.
unquote

Not much going on here I'd say. When it comes doen to pure strength Skin does not differ from me.

quote
Known superhuman powers: Skin is a mutant who has between four and six feet of extra skin on his body. Skin has control over this extra skin, and can extend the skin to grapple objects. When relaxed, Skin's extra skin sags and gives him the appearance of a melted candle, but with concentration Skin can contract the extra skin and pass for a normal human.
unquote

What's this kind of lame power? Having 4 to 6 feet of extra skin????

quote
Skin's extra skin also grants him some degree of resistance to physical injury. The skin is also highly resistant to punctures and tearing, but the tensile strength of this resistance has not been recorded.
unquote

Now, this is remotely cool and useful but not more than that. Still a lame power when compared to the other superhero big guns in the MU.

quote
When Skin falls unconscious, his skin starts to fall into a liquid state, and Angelo will appear to be melting. Why this phenomenon occurs has yet to be understood.
unquote

What's is this?

I dont mean to rain on anyone's parade but this has got to be the lamest mutant ever.

Just my two cents though!

Rainer

Yes, I dont know if I would call Maggot a bad mutant idea. Cause I do like the character too. I think that he would of been a cool horror character or a dark hero.

Rainer after all that research you did on skin I will agree with you.

Certainly is a lame mutant in my book, even though I never heard of him until your post
