Joker (2019) - Second viewing. 9/10
I really like this movie and Phoenix was great. Ledger’s Joker is still # 1 for me. But, Phoenix’s version is also excellent.
Trick ‘R Treat (2009) - 5.5/10

Xmen Dark Fate
5 out 10
Just kind of blah.
What is it with Xmen movies and swirling debris fields? Every movie.

Upgrade - 9/10
A movie I had not heard of before reading the synopsis and recording it on the DVR. Got around to watching it and it gave a nice jolt to the eyes...and the ears (I appreciated the pumping score to match the action moments).
The plot - a little in the future, biomechanics become more ingrained into society. A husband and wife are attacked after a car accident. The wife is killed. The husband is injured and becomes a quadriplegic. Through “chess-like” means, the husband is implanted with “Stem,” an intelligent device that allows him to operate at a Batman-like level of physical prowess and mental acuity.
Finding his wife’s killers becomes the husband’s new life.
The film has some brutal action moments with a great, ominous ending. And, of course, a twist I thought I had pegged, but not quite.

I also enjoyed it but I do think some of the violent scenes were a bit gratuitous. If they would have toned that down and maybe even went for a PG-13 rating they might have turned this into a franchise. Instead, it felt like the Director wanted this to be a sci-fi horror movie but he didn't go far enough with the horror part which kind of left it in limbo, too much horror for your regular sci-fi fans and not enough horror for your horror fans. I think that's why it bombed at the box office so badly.

Is this "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" or "Terminator: Dark Fate"?

It's the one where a Terminator is sent back in time to kill Jean Gray.
