You've obviously not seen actual legislation in making this a holiday. It was done to honor Italian Americans. You are free to have your opinion, though, unless it is about MLK Jr. Day. It is amazing the double standards we have in this country.
Just don't cross the line and start slandering Italian Americans specifically instead of by association.

nope no idea this was to honor Italian Americans. From I was taught early the name says it all. I for one don't believe he was a good person. I'm not saying Italian Americans shouldn't have a day to be celebrated I'm saying he shouldn't have a day to be remembered

Well this is the day most State Legislatures have set aside to honor the many contributions of Italian Americans to this country. So remember the Italian Americans and ignore Columbus if it makes you feel better.
