so does anybody know what that little doodad is? i can't seem to find where it's supposed to fit on the blaster.

Yes, there were two alternative versions of the Han Solo blaster, and therefore it's the alternate piece to put on top of the barrel behind the supressor. Don´t have mine yet, but there is said to be some info given in the COA
