Congrats... It's definitely the geek-palooza on the west cost if not North America, so try your best to enjoy it without overspending (a true challenge). 
I knew someone who used to go there almost every year and spends loads of money, and even him had a real hard time to guarantee his tickets without going through some loopholes!

Oh yeah ...these badges are hard to get. San Diego Comic Con is so popular and has grown so much, there is just not enough badges to go around.
But as a returning attendee, you get better chances to get in.
The last time you could just walk up to the ticket booth and buy badges was early 2000's.
