The piece is great but the price shows how ARH is out of touch with the current market and collectors in general. Even in the aftermarket on a good day this would suffer a 50% loss.

If I was ARH I would be working out how to sell these pieces at least $200 less to have a chance to survive as a business over the next few years.

ARH was and still is stuck with a lot of old stock that he had to slash 40% off to try get rid of them..and when that failed a variant is made...and if he continues to charge these crazy prices on variants and also for the new statues he will end up stuck with a bunch of freshly painted new statues that will also need a 40% price slash to get the boot out of the studio!

I honestly thought we were talking about another variant here.
$575 for that?

We already know that ARH work in very small runs in a market that is quite small even for known characters.
Achilles is still available at $395 on their site. They had a few specials heavily discounting it and still couldn't sell out. That's a good statue and good price.
Tarzan Primal Rage was originally $599 and is utterly epic. They could only get enough orders for 60+ to be made.

I'd be surprised if they sell 10 of this.

You never know. I bought one of these.

It is a kit as part of the "Denizens of Zo" which is kind of an opposite of Oz vibe. They have several including a scarecrow with a flame thrower but I really only wanted this one. The concept art and the original kit came with Toto in a basket but I really liked the Rotweiller with the "KC" dog tags as a nice touch. Their bases didn't match so Saul had to make me a new one. All others I have seen are painted in an army drab style color but I wanted mine painted with red leather boots to at least maintain the kind of "ruby slippers" I was going to go with glitter boots but decided on the red leather instead, and then decided I wanted to keep the original colors of blue and white as well. Here is the original art and an alternative color scheme with the toto in a basket painted by Jim Capone.
