I actually record everything on the DVR so I never watch the shows when they are actually on... sorry...

My wife and I do the same thing. We actually stopped watching Medium on Monday night because it was live, and we didn't want to mess with sitting through commercials.  Until then, it was just the way things worked out--this was the first time we made the conscious decision to watch something else so we could watch what was on right then later on. 
I think this is going to become standard--I also think that the last ad in commercial breaks (for as long as they last, anyway) will soon become the prime spot, since you end up watching the tail end of that, usually, even if you're skipping the ads.

yeah i hate sitting through commercials anymore, even if i am watching something the night it comes on, set the dvr and wait about 15 minutes then start watching so i can skip the commercials...

I usually just buy the dvds when they're out and then forget to watch them. At this rate i'll be watching season 6 of smallville when season 7 is out on dvd
