HATE the character - one of worst, most boring, one-note pieces of dreck introduced in the last 20 years!

I don't like the way he seemed to be forced down our throats, or the terrible origin. That isn't the worst bit, I can grow to love a character despite these faults, but the fact that he's been so hideously absent from Marvel Universe events turned me off for good.

Even when he made appearences, he was so nervous and non-commital, he's not even heroic!

If Bendis wanted to use a superman-style character to join the Avengers, why create one?

Hyperion and Gladiator are obviously inspired by Supes, and are very cool characters to boot.

Hyperion is a great character, Superman with an edge. His evil turn in Exiles was probably one of the titles better arcs.

Gladiator has a fantastic power, invulnerability fuelled only by self confidence. He's so powerful that it's been rumoured that he was a Herald of Galactus!

Sentry is a poor imitation of not just a DC icon, but of a hero.

Everything he said.

Exactly. Him making a first appearance in New Avengers like that peaked my interest but once they retreaded the "Avoid the Void" stuff, I lost interest immediately. The more I read of him the less I liked. His tower atop Starks new building, yawn. Marital problems? No interest. His dog? c'mon.
Even Jrjr's art couldn't bring me back when I tried his second series.

The latest issue of New Avengers of him moping on the moon was another missed opportunity. How could a story of the Inhumans declaring war of Earth turn so boring? The issue should have turned into a fight between him and Black Bolt with BB taking the stance "I'm doing this to protect my people" and Sentry holding ground as "you're not going to escalate an already bad situation." Since he's being pushed on us to be Superman, let him act like Superman once in a while. This would also let us see BB cut loose like we seldom see him do.

I think he has potential and no one here can really disagree with that.....the problem that everyone has is not about the potential he has, but rather with what the writers have done with him and where they've taken him so far. I too REALLY hate the whole NAMBY-PAMBY routine he has been going through. However, with NA #24 we see what is known as foreshadowing. When WWH & CW are over my bet is they are REALLY going to explore the Inhuman vs. Earth War. Sentry and Crystal are going to have a whole Romeo & Juliet type deal going on. It has potential if they can actually have some REAL battles with him involved. I mean HE was pretty damn nice in the collective arc. Watching him go toe to toe with the collective was very nice. Potential is there.....but.....are they going to do anything with it is the question.

All these people that compare him to Superman are missing the point. Have you even READ any Sentry stories? He's nothing like Superman! Schizophrenic human with power from a serum and an alien from another planet who has power from Earth's sun are two totally different concepts. Try reading stuff before you comment, folks.

Sentry has promise. I have to admit the latest story was pretty aweful, but he's a new character. I don't understand the hatred for THIS character when there are like a million new lame ass mutants created every year featured in the 50 X-books that come out every month. Now THATS lame.
