[QUOTE=Chargersfan57;5387532]I hope they do. I don't want them all standing atop the same dirt mound. I want each base to be unique to that character.

Screw those dirt mound bases. No offense to pcs but on Akuma it is one of the worst bases I have ever owned. Akuma is perfect and to not match it with just as good a base lets it down imo. The paint app on it was horrible as well. i really hope they lift in bases going on.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I disagree. I think the bases on these 1/3 scale statues both in size and design are good. They don't take up crazy amounts of space like XM, Prime 1 and some of Sideshows bases either and they're more Character focused. I bought the statue for Akuma. Not for the Akuma base.

Sorry, but just because they are selling Akuma doesn't mean they should be lazy on the base. Otherwise just stand him on a block of concrete and be done with it. If I pay good money I expect it perfect all around, not just for the character only.

And I never said the size of the base was a problem. Look at Deathstroke for Prime 1. The base size is great, but the detail and paint app is perfect and complements the statue. And your comment on them not being character focused is strange to me, as that is completely what it is.

This Akuma base is not good in anyway at all. The rock shape is just strange (with that weird middle cut away) and randomly putting the face at the bottom is just strange. its makes no sense. (i get it is their strange way of representing him, but does not fit with the design). But the worst thing for me is the paint app. The colour is extremely bland and has absolutely no detail at all. If you are ok with horrible paint apps on a base thats fine, but its not okay with me. I expect it to be painted to perfection. I want what I pay for.

And I do own the piece and love Akuma, but to justify that base as ok makes no sense to me. We should be challenging these companies to put in 100% across all of the piece and not just the character himself or this will always just keep happening.

That's a little harsh, but I've not been a fan of Akuma's base either. Ryu's and the ninjas are nice, and I believe Chun-Li's will be as well. Just not keen on Akuma's.

I would've liked some stone steps (up to a monastery), or wooden planks (leading to a dojo), etc. The flat platforms the feet rest on are awkward considering the rest of the sculpt, and I agree the Oni seems out of place.

You're never going to please everyone though, and I consider them minor nitpicks.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

I think their intention on these 1:3 Statues is to focus more on the character. hence the simple base. Imagine if their base is so elaborate in 1:3 scale. It will definitely affect its price as well. PCS 1:6 V-trigger statues have awesome bases. Chun-li and Ryu are phenomenal. Their 1:4 Scale ultra line has nice bases as well.

I prefered the simple black round bases of the 1:4 SF statues where it was all about the character, no chance of an awkward or out of place base.

Im looking at the portrait of Chun LI. I think it changed. The angle in which the head has changed. I like it over the original. Very elegant. A Very Sensual looking Chun LI in a Qi Pao. The new portrait matches her dress better.

Edit : +1 Its beautiful
