First time painting a statue

I need some advice, I am painting my first statue, I have a base coat of acrylic on it now, [IMG][/IMG]

I've painted on canvas mainly in oil for a few years so I have a good collection of paint, I do not have a compressor atm and only a old Badger single action airbrush, so My question, should I finish this in oil or acrylic? I like acrylic but I find it easier to blend oil especially with the drying time of acrylic.
Any help or suggestions, techniques would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I was told some people do paint in oils on statues, just takes time to get it done is all. So if use mediums that dry the oil faster you can attempt it on a sculpt.

If you want to finish in acrylics just to get used to it, you can.

I mainly use airbrushes so using regular brushes im not so sure.

But if you wanted to experiment, back in the dy before airbrushes people used brushed like a toothbrush and sprayed onto a canvas like speckling.

Other ways is just do lots of washes, building up wash after wash so you dont get brush strokes.

Thank you Vince, That is very helpful, I'm not fond of the mediums to help oil dry quicker, very toxic, so I think I'll stick with acrylic, until I upgrade my airbrush situation!, thanks again.
