I just feel this is DC's attempt to copy Captain america. Since that title has done well without steve rogers around, maybe they think the same for Bats.
Problem is, Brubaker is a better writer than Morrison.

At the very least they gave Batman a real hero's (alleged) death, an not killed by a snipers bullet after copping out on cause he believed in.
