You think the color-card's already being played, Luis?
I think people are saying it's a "historic election" because he's black, and it would've been for McCain because his vp's a woman, but hopefully the color of his skin is an afterthought now, if not a non-issue.
I don't see ANY color when I look at my President, I see my President. I'm possibly naive on this, but so be it.
I totally understand what you're saying, though...the media, as always (both left and right-slanted) are focusing on something that should be a non-issue.. his ethnicity.
I do see how having an African-American President might cause a fair amount of racism to rear its ugly head in our less culturally-aware communities (or pockets of many communities), where before it lay dormant. That's no fault of Obama's, though (nor did you say it was).
I think if issues regarding race are made an issue now because of who's "in the driver's seat", it would be detrimental to those people in that demographic.
Why has the pot not been stirred much lately (that I know of) only to be stirred now? It looks bad.. on their part.
Half the time it's not even African-Americans stirring the pot..
As far as ignorant newscasting is concerned, all African Americans are Democrats, and that's incredibly far from the truth.
An attempt was made on his life? When was that?
