The remake is paced very much the same mate, I really enjoyed the original but after 67wm recommended I read the book I did, and it really opened up so much more of the movie for me. Top shelf stuff, so I watched the remake on the back of good buzz and while it's still great and Reeves is 2 for 2 as a director, I do think everything he got right was essentially a direct riff on the original and the places where the film lacks are where he attempted something different

Black Swan 10/10
now that's what I call a fooking movie! Aronofsky does gloriously overblown mental deterioation like no other...my kind of flick and an incredible experience in the cinema, combo of amazing visuals and sound sent chills down my spine and made me go all clammy, and no not just during THAT scene.

had to laugh at the old ladies sitting next to me though..."this is stupid"...hahahahaha!!

Unstoppable 7/10
now THIS *is* stupid, attention deficit drug addicted energizer bunny style of tony scott and BOOMING music of Zimmer cult member Harry Gregson-Williams out in force of course, but what the hell, good time out with good company, fast paced and entertaining trash, so I won't complain.

Alien, director's cut (on bluray) - 9.5/10

On bluray, this was a sheer delight.
Super crisp and clear images. Wonderful job.

To Live & Die in LA - watched again on BD - 8/10 - plenty of eighties cheese, including the wardrobe and soundtrack, and loaded with cliches, but still a great flick, with a WTF just happened ending.

Great film. Haven't watched my Blu-ray of this yet. Need to give this a spin soon.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo & The Girl Who Played With Fire 5/10
In all honesty, I couldn't sit through the entire second movie. The girl smokes, I get it. The books would have been a better choice, apparently.
