I really enjoyed 1 & 3. I re-watched into Darkness recently also, I didn't actually dislike it as much as I remembered, but it is the weakest entry.

I hope they do a Trek that is more about ideas and difficult problems than "bad guy blows stuff up in revenge plot". My favorite TNG episodes often were light on action. Would serve to trim the budget a lot too as know these haven't done massive business at the box office.

This is what Scott Forbes over at Forbes has proposed. Star Trek has a finite audience, so it doesn't make sense to spend gobs of money on expensive action sequences.

They should make a spy thriller about Section 31, Romulan Tal Shiar, and Cardassian Obsidian Order operatives.
