How would I paint this?

I want to paint this camouflage pattern onto a wooden axe handle.

Any hints?

Thanks.

Templets overlapped. That's how they did it on American Chopper.

Take the picture you have there and print it 3 times, once for black, brown, and light green. You could use a dremel tool or exacto knife to cut one color out of each copy. Paint the entire handle the dark green. Use each printout as a template and paint the color you removed.

You could also make some type of decal out of your photo if the surface is smooth.

:edit: Just saw the axe handle part. A full size axe? If so, forget everything I said! That would take forever, lol.

Should we be scared of what you want with a camouflaged axe? I, for one, live close enough to you to be very worried.

Aren't you worried that if you put it down then you won't be able to find it again?

Does it have to be that exact pattern?

When I used to camouflage things, I'd first primer the piece, then use Forest Green, Olive Drab, Desert Sand, Flat Black, and Earth Yellow spray paints (from craft or hobby stores) and hold real and fake leaves up to the piece and alternately spray the colors.

For leaves, real baker's ferm from a florist makes the best impact.

Thanks everyone.

I'll more than likely take it to a graphic artist friend of mine to get it done.

Going away gift for one of my unit buddies. He's transfering to another unit and we had always joked about having a squad of guys with battle-axes. This particular camo pattern would identify it as a Canadian military battle-axe.
