Getting a good compressor is....tough....and you
have to weigh the volume of airbrushing vs. cost
of unit.
If you plan to do only a couple hours per day of
airbrushing, most good "silent" compressors will
fit the bill. The Silentaire Scorpion II, the
Badger (Thayer and Chandler) Airstar, and the
Iwata Sprint series are all very nice medium use
units that run fairly quiet.
If noise does not bother you and you can put up
with the loud rumble....any airbrush standard
compressor (Paashe, Badger, etc..) can meet your
need. These do not overheat as much as the
silent running ones.....but they are loud.
A few years back, I had finally upgraded to the
Badger Millionaire and I have not looked back since.
It is the most quiet compressor I have ever seen,
it runs dead silent except for the occasional
pressure release....does not over heat and
incredibly smooth airpressure.
