Yeah we carve it in, but in a subtle manner, so it can barely be seen by the painter so he can do his magic.
Finding decals at the proper size may be a bit of an issue as usually the sheet of decals come with many sizes, not just the one we need, so that would be a waste of materials. carving it will be the norm most likely.
