Which Classic, Old-School Hero Would You Like To See Back?

In the '90s, Marvel released some excellent limited series of the Phantom, Mandrake, Prince Valiant, and Flash Gordon.

I loved The Avenger, Justice Inc., Bantam Paperbacks. I have quite a few. Man, those Bama covers.
If an artist and writer really new their 30's culture, architecture and NYC, this would make a great comic again.




Tarzan really needs his own monthly again. (c'mon Andy or Adam Kubert, how about a run in honor of your Dad?) Dark Horse, in one of the rare instances, blew it with their take. Modern, pulp, 30's, 40's, 50's? They seemed to be all over the board with him.


Dark Horse did handle Doc Savage properly in the several mini series they did a decade or so back.

I suppose. Love Kaluta on The Shadow, though. I also really liked Chaykin's take on The Shadow, though I wouldn't like this version of him to be an ongoing series.

Your so right moon_knight 1971. Finished Phantom Stranger's 1st DC Showcase and I was just blown away. DC really had something special with this character back in the 60's. It was really like an almost X-Files it was so supernaturally seeped. I'd like to see both him and Doctor 13 teaming up again in a monthly.

Seriously....I guess Michael Straczynski is doing it with his The Twelve mini series. Here we have 12 old-shool heroes that I wasn't familier with, back in action. The series is great so I know it can work.
I prefer when a writer sets a hero in the time period they were created but if it takes a modern twist, then so be it.

Anyone remember these '90s Marvel limited series? Simply awesome stuff. I enjoyed them much more than the regular superhero books they were publishing at the time. I don't know exactly what possessed Marvel to focus on these characters then, but they did a bang-up job with the selection of writers and artists.
